tipi holidays, the tipis

The Sami and Indian people had the same idea when they created the tipi. A simple cone-shaped frame of wooden poles covered with animal hides, with an opening at the top to let out smoke. A perfect solution for living close to nature.

The three stylish Kata tipis here at our glamping site originate from Sami people of northern Scandinavia. They are based on a traditional design but use 21st Century fabrics and construction techniques to provide a wind-resistant, sophisticated space that is easy to keep warm and homely, perfect for our climate!

The tipis are 5.3m in diameter, sit on a wooden platform and comfortably sleep four adults, two on a double futon bed and two on roll out futon mattress. The double futon has an extra comfy memory foam topper and all are covered with contemporary welsh blankets, throws and sheepskins.

To complete the cosy glamping experience each tipi also has a wood burning stove that heats the tipi in no time and can be stoked up to keep you toasty over night.

Inside there is a locally made chunky wooden box for storage, plus candles and a lantern for atmospheric lighting and a rechargeable lantern for night time trips to the loo. Sumptuous duvets and crisp cotton bedding can be provided for a small extra charge.

There's a recycled gas bottle chiminea on the deck of each tipi that's great for toasting marshmallows or even your toes after an adventurous day out and about or to complete your glamping experience get stuck into fire making in the pit in front of the tipi.

Check out the practicalities page for what's included and what to bring with you.
